SCI-FI SUMMERS

Those summers of my teens
were each a stack of paperbacks
and every chapter racing
backward or forward in time

CHALLENGED MY TEMPORAL PEACE OF MIND.

Manic with coffee and cigarettes,
mortally socializing and illegal,
I delved cold dilemma
in a speculated land
where present trends collided
in plausible collision
with a swaggering kind of

TOLD-YOU-SO LOGIC.

Each chapter fed my intensity
and I became
ANXIOUS OVER ANOTHER WORLD'S PRIORITIES.

Out of every strange, new form
emerged entities, far reaching,

PERCHED ON THE ENGINE OF INSIGHT.

I needed only to visualize
how common, ordinary light
could be twisted by imagination
in order to see contradiction
so profoundly plain and simple.

POSSIBILITY AND TRUTH COEXIST,

NAKED, OBVIOUS, SCREAMING OUT,

GOD, COOL.
