ALEX BAY
     "Voices, Memory, Time"

clips from previous shows:

"Gelindo's Song" and "Eyes of the Deep" are multi-media
pieces which the viewer may initiate audio playback.
"Canaletto's House" is an installation piece which I
vary the contents from show to show. In the present
show it contains a video playing a reconstruction of
the Treblinka death camp (done through computer
graphics derived from an analysis of captured
German WWII aerial photos) and three pieces of sculpture

The three small constructions are part of an
array of 24. They are allied with the large assembly
of constructions, wall mounted in the main gallery.

Construction 2010
Bay pairs abstract painting with recessed sculptural
constructions set in blackened cells. The three
dimensional elements are crude rusted steel or
tin forms, and are intended to serve as foils for
the more elegant paintings. The two are forms
are yin and yang.

Bay has shown in the Washington, DC area for many
years and is also affiliated with the Caelum Gallery in
Chelsea, New York and the New Light Gallery in
Abingdon, VA. He has exhibited in numerous
exhibitions, both one man and group shows
for over 20 years
