Naked in the Gallery is a photographic challenge for eight Richmond artists.  Work on exhibit consists of photos shot during a single photo session with all the comforts of a formal studio stripped away.  The location (art6 Gallery) was disclosed shortly before the photo session, and each artist was was allowed to bring only one camera, one roll of film (or digital card) and had one half hour to photograph a male or female nude model none of them had worked with before, working by available light only -- thus giving little chance for producing preconceived images.

Organized by art6 member Doug Hayes, the show's participants were chosen for their visual sense rather than photographic experience and include two graphic designers, a dancer/choreographer and a painter.  The participants were free to use film or digital cameras and work in either color or black and white.  art6 member and graphic designer John Starr not only chose to shoot digitally, he converted his images to 3-D, to be viewed with red and blue lens glasses for the full three dimensional effect.  Other artists participating in the show are:  John Bailey (painter), Starrene Foster (dancer/choreographer), Lew Bailes (photographer),  Elisabeth Flynn Chapman ( landscape photographer), Theron Wood (hobbyist), Doug Hayes (photographer) and Christopher Hibben (graphic designer).

Naked in the Gallery opens Friday November 5th, with opening reception from 7pm to 10pm and runs through Sunday, November 28th.
